Ok, the whirlwind rush from turkey day to ball drop has come to an end. Perhaps you’ve packed away the gift wrapping, holiday tunes, and animated classics along with most of your sanity! What do you have to show for it other than a fruitcake and some exhausted gift cards? How do we refresh that spirit of the season to keep us going the rest of the year? Why, a visit to the seasonal lights at Longwood, you say!
The Longwood Gardens seasonal light display continues through this weekend. With the pending snow shower the scenery should be great. There are indoor and outdoor displays, ice skating, a water fountain show and waltz music with dancing. There is a restaurant or cafe to warm yourselves in and recharge before heading out into the cold again. Tickets are $16 and can be scheduled online (they have a ‘time’ stamp) or you can just show up and take your chances (after holidays is usually a lot less crowded). An extra fee applies to see the skaters and food purchases.
Meetup time is 4:15 at the entrance off the main parking lot. Directions are linked, but if you need help email me. Carpooling is encouraged through the comments section. Those who would consider taking the train can email me about the regional rail.
NB: I held off posting this hoping for a weather change but to no avail. Unless you’re a hermit you realize we're in the grips of a cold snap! Forecast highs are below freezing, and wind chill even lower. Everyone MUST be able to multilayer or just forget about it, you’ll be miserable. The plan is to cycle through in & outside events to keep exposure to a minimum, but it’s still very cold. It closes at 9pm, and most of us will likely be ready for the pub by then! So come and join us for a last true holiday tradition.
