The Bronx is up but the Battery is down. ...... We're going downtown from Penn Station and plan to walk on the new promenade that goes around the waterfront and around the island of Manhattan. Figure around 6-10 miles of walking. Eventually we'll reach Pier 11 near the Brooklyn Bridge and take the free ferry to Brooklyn. We'll explore the area is this alien place then head back via the city passing Little Italy, China Town, The East Side, etc etc etc.
We start by carpooling from Hill House, link below, at 745am. Or you can meet us at 9am at the New Jersey Transit- Hamilton Station next to ticket counter. Round trip ticket around $23. We take the 907am train to Penn Station New York arriving 10:37am. Then we head off to the waterfront and walk the promenade to Pier 11. Of course we will explore any neat area we find on the way. I plan to leave NYC 4-5pm being back in Philly around 7pm.
I like to stop at Whole Foods to eat because they have everything: Italian, Indian, salads, meats, seafood, etc. You can get as much or as little as you want and don't need worry about a big bill. However, we will see. I've received many recommendations.
Remember this is a hike, not New York shopping. Plan to go 10 miles at a decent pace.

Here's a google map link for Hill House. Carpoolers pay driver $7 which includes parking at Hamilton.

If you change your mind please change your RSVP. No-shows may be barred from my events. Email or call if you have a problem.
If the hike is full at the moment, then just check back a day or two before the hike. People always change plans.
