Are you very stressed? Restless? Get sick a lot? Have chronic pain? Have a loved one that's going through a hard time? Just curious about learning relaxation or pain relief techniques?

Join us for a introductory session on Reiki, a Japanese holistic healing technique. Reiki means life-force energy. The practice redirects your energy, and has many health benefits.

Rita is a Get Out Philly member and Reiki Master/teacher who has been practicing Reiki for 7 years and teaching it for 5 years. "I have used reiki a lot on my adventures, reikiing knees and feet after a long hike or reikiing my whole body to get over a night in a tent when I was about to catch a cold, or overcome jetlag."

Rita and two other reiki practitioners (called "channels") will guide us through the basics of the practice, with a special focus on sports injuries, such as those incurred from hiking, running, repetitive motion like paddling, biking, tennis or climbing. But the course will be suitable for all health issues, including things like colds, exhaustion or your general/chronic aches & pains. You'll also learn some techniques to be healthy in a lot of hard circumstances. Reiki is often used as preventative alternative medicine.

We'll play with the energy a bit by doing some exercises, and then we'll be given the chance to see the practice in action. Ask many questions, and when we're done, just relax and socialize!

Edit: This will be held at Rita's house in Germantown, and directions will be sent a few days before the event!

Amy & Rita, thanks for the heads-up on Germantown Ave, as that was the way I had mapquested. I'm guessing that if coming that way taking Wayne ave to Coulter Street should be an okay way to avoid whatever's going on with Germantown Ave?

Woohoo! So I got in.....but I'm gonna need more than "Rita's house in Germantown"! I suppose I could just pick any old Rita in Germantown....but I think once I started trying to do Reiki in the wrong house it might freak people out:0)

There are a few people who haven't yet paid, so we'll give them another week...then they'll be bumped to the waitlist too. Based on the interest, we may do another one in a few months!

Thanks for the update, Amy! I can offer a ride to anyone coming from outside of the city. I'm over near the Main Line area, so just let me know.

    •  It was a nice, basic introduction to Reiki with some experiential learning which was helpful in getting more of a "feel" for Reiki.
