Come with Get Out Philly to escape into the solitude of a forest away from civilization, but not too far. We will be hiking the Mill Creek trail in the French Creek park. While parts of this hike are serene, this trail is also part of an orienteering course. French Creek is considered by some as the “Orienteering Capital of North America.” So come on out and join Get Out for a day hike in the serene park, and maybe learn something about Orienteering.
Cost: Free
French Creek State Park is located about an hour northeast of center city, 45 minutes from Valley Forge, and can be reached from the Morgantown exits (1A and 1 B) of the PA Turnpike. We will meet at the Mill Creek trail head at the intersection of PA 345 (chestnut st.) and Shed Rd (Lat:40.21668 Lon:-75.77611). There is small parking lot right after you turn onto Shed Rd. We will hike the Mill Creek trail to Miller's point, where we will have a snack/lunch. On the return trip we will hike by Hopewell Furnace site.
